camperbus`sie´
This was our camper bus made
in 1974, we drove about 15,000 miles through Europe without a lot of trouble.
When we bought this bus we didn´t know that there were so many volkswagen freaks
around. Now we have the virus too. That´s why I made this web page. De official
name is T2, but everyone has his own name. Our family name is "bussie".
I would like to try to collect all aircooled names. T1, T2, T2a, and T3 are
the factory names they are a bit boring !! In the VW name page I collect the names I found so far. Help me to
find more! Please send me a email,
with your own bus name, any comment or suggestions are welcome as well.
History of "bussie"
- Year of construction 1974
- We bought in august 1993
bussie for 5,000 Dutch guldens ( about $ 2,300 )
- According the speedometer
he did 04,450 kilometer, nobody knows this must be 104,450 or 204,450 kilometers.
- We think it is 204,450 kilometer,
we did meanwhile 22,0000 Km.
- Licenseplate 39-VR-86.
- Chassisnumber 2342042942
- His original color was orange,
but the previous owner changed it in red with a white top.
- The engine is replaced in
1992.
- The broken speedo cable replaced
in Belgium; the fuel gauge is unreliable, so we refuel every 400 Km. Thanks
to the VW garage, the cable wasn´t in store, so he was donated by an other
old bus.
- Fixed the wire of the left
door windowscreen opener
- Moved a bird´s nest from
the air inlet beside the battery, five little eggs where boiled because of
the heat. :-((
- Replaced the old headlight
bulbs for halogen bulbs
- Placed a C.B. antenna
- Replaced the front seats
- During the trip to Corsica
the 20 year old fridge burned out, and nearly the bus, the fridge is replaced
for a new one.
- Placed a interval on the
wipers, maybe it doesn´t rain anymore, unfortunately the rain doesn´t stop.
- Fixed rust spots
- Replaced all four tyres for
the trip to Portugal.
- Replaced the battery, starting
problems solved
- The exhaust is weld together
in France the VW garage did a good job because he´s still o.k. today.
- Thing to do: Replace all
door rubbers.
- Sold in 2002 ):|
